Blasted Magritte
Medium: Acrylic and mixed media on original exhibition flyer
Size: 25 × 35 cm
This work reclaims an original exhibition flyer dedicated to René Magritte, transforming an ephemeral printed object into a unique artifact within the UTOPIA v2.1 series.
Rather than reproducing Magritte's imagery, the piece interrupts it. Radio emerges through layers of acrylic and mixed media, creating a visual collision between one of the most recognizable figures in surrealism and the fractured language of UTOPIA. The original context is not erased,it remains visible beneath the intervention, becoming part of the work's history.
The result exists between appropriation and reinterpretation, where the exhibition flyer ceases to function as documentation and becomes an autonomous artwork. Memory, authorship, and reproduction are compressed into a single surface, questioning where an image ends and another begins.
As a one-of-one piece, it extends UTOPIA's ongoing investigation into found media, cultural archives, and the reconstruction of realities that never existed.
